6 Strongest Invincible Characters Who Destroyed Blue Suit Mark (2025)

When Invincible took on the blue suit, Mark went through some of the toughest battles of his superhero career. With Mark taking a harder stance against crime, the blue suit is a dark representation of Mark's internal struggles. Even though Mark would be able to escape that darkness, the battles he fought during his time in the suit changed who he was forever and proved him to truly be Invincible.

Among the many powerful characters and awful disasters Mark had faced up to this point, few compare to the devastating events that would occur during this time in his life. Invincible's time in the blue suit was a period of despair and loss and found the hero questioning not only who he was, but everything he stood for. While Invincible was able to physically overcome these obstacles, their impact would stick with him forever and determine who he would become.

6 Cecil Stedman Forced Invincible Down a Darker Path

Invincible was driven to the blue suit when his morals were tested

After the villain, Doc Seismic, was able to successfully capture all the heroes of Earth with his Magmanites in Invincible #50 (by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Rus Wooton), the heroes were saved by Darkwing II and a group of ReAnimen sent by Cecil. Once Seismic was down, Invincible attacked Darkwing due to their last encounter in Invincible #21 (by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Rus Wooton), where Invincible turned him over to the GDA after he discovered Darkwing had been killing people. When Invincible confronted Cecil, he activated a chip in his brain that emitted a sound able to hurt him while the ReAnimen attacked.

Invincible was able to eventually escape the range of Cecil's device, and had Robot disable it. While this fight with Cecil and the ReAnimen happened before Mark took on the blue suit, his fight with the ReAnimen is what destroyed his original suit and directly led to him needing the new suit from Art. Besides his suit being destroyed, the effects of this betrayal by Cecil would be one of the first of many events to shift Mark's perspective of being a hero and his darker turn in the blue suit.

The Immortal is one of the greatest heroes on Earth and leader of the Guardians of the Globe. Being unable to die, Immortal has fought in nearly every battle throughout history and protected the world as a superhero since the 1930's. While he and Invincible's relationship would begin rocky, Immortal later became one of Mark's closest allies. The Immortal represents everything good about being a hero, but even the most noble can have terrible falls. When Mark was taken to a dystopian future in Invincible #54, he found that the world had been taken over by the Immortal, who became a ruthless dictator. The Immortal pleaded with Invincible to kill him and ultimately attacked Mark while telling him about the future. Mark then lost control and ripped the Immortal's head off.

Invincible's Ryan Ottley Hid A Few Surprising Easter Eggs In The Comic

The Invincible comics are full of Easter Eggs that are still being discovered years later, though artist Ryan Ottley revealed a few in a Reddit AMA.

Mark would later fight the Immortal again in his blue suit when breaking out the Astonishing Wolf-Man from a GDA prison in The Astonishing Wolf-Man #11 (by Robert Kirkman Jason Howard, Cliff Rathburn, and Rus Wooton). The Immortal similarly antagonized Mark by mentioning his similarities to Omni-Man, which again caused Mark to lose control, and he nearly killed him again. While the Immortal put a beating on Mark in this moment, the real impact of this battle came from his words, not his fist. Still struggling with his murder of Levy and trying to justify his mistakes, the Immortals' words hit Mark in exactly the right spots to make him lose control again and give in to his darker impulses.

4 Kid Omni-Man Made Mark Admit Hard Truths

Invincible came to terms with his inner Viltrumite

After the Maulers attacked a nuclear missile base in Invincible #52, Invincible and Kid Omni-Man arrived to stop them. The Maulers launched a missile that took Invincible's attention while Kid Omni-Man brutally murdered the Mauler Twins. Once Mark discovered what his brother had done, Oliver revealed that he felt like human life was insignificant. Invincible told the young hero he sounded like their father, which made Oliver proud. Kid Omni-Man asked Mark if he ever thought that maybe Omni-Man was right and Mark reluctantly admitted that he sometimes did.

While this wasn't a physical fight, this interaction with Oliver destroyed Mark's delusions of him not being anything like his father. Invincible shared many of the darker qualities of his father and was constantly trying to prove himself to be better. After thinking he had killed Levy and Cecil's betrayal in Invincible #50, Mark realized that no matter how much he lied to himself, he was more like his father than he cared to admit and that his Viltrumite heritage was not something he could avoid.

The Mauler Twins are alien geniuses who cause destruction in their continued search for experimentation and power. Always being able to clone whichever one dies, the Maulers have been a recurring nuisance in Invincible's world and have fought against the most powerful heroes of Earth, including Omni-Man, the Immortal, and the entire Guardians of the Globe team. In Invincible #52, The Maulers continue their criminal ambitions, taking over a nuclear missile base in an attempt to destroy the world's communication networks. After easily defeating the current Guardians of the Globe, Invincible arrived to put an end to their plot.

The Invincible War, Explained

Mark Grayson faces many terrible events in the Invincible series, but none are quite as memorable as Angstrom Levy's earth-shattering Invincible War.

However, Invincible wouldn't fare much better than his superhero companions and the Maulers took him out with the same advanced weapon. Mark was able to get the upper hand after an intervention from Kid Omni-Man, but the battle could have had a very different outcome. Many readers may write off the Maulers as just comical villains who pop up now and then, but they are a bigger threat than most realize. Being able to fight Omni-Man and Invincible and survive to tell the tale put the Maulers in an exclusive class of villains. Their immense strength is only complimented by their massive intelligence, able to create weapons and devices capable of neutralizing Invincible and other powerful characters.

Invincible's greatest enemy changes him forever

When one of Mark's greatest villains, Angstrom Levy, returned to earth with an army of evil Invincibles in Invincible #60, Mark would face the biggest fight of his life. Spreading across the entire globe, the army of evil Marks caused massive destruction in nearly every major city around the world and killed thousands. Mark jumped into the battle and fought off numerous versions of himself, as they tried and kill everyone close to him.

The battle lasted over three days, resulting in the death of multiple heroes and bringing Mark to his darkest point thus far. Mark was eventually able to stop Levy and the attack on Earth but at devastating costs. While Mark stopped Levy's attack on Earth, the multiversal villains' plan would ultimately work, just not in the way he had hoped. This second battle with Levy opened Mark's eyes to how devastating his mistakes could be and all the people who are forced to pay the price. The Invincible War fundamentally changed Mark Grayson forever and influenced nearly every decision he made moving forward.

1 Conquest Was Marks Toughest Battle By Far

The Viltrumite's thirst for violence knows no limit

Immediately after the horrifying events of the Invincible War, Mark was confronted by the Viltrumite, Conquest. He was on orders to assess Invincible's takeover of Earth for the Viltrum Empire, but Mark refused to cooperate. The Empire anticipated his resistance and sent Conquest specifically, as he had never failed to take over a planet. Filled with guilt and shame over all the destruction and death from the Invincible War, Mark met Conquest's challenge, and the two engaged in a fight that shook the entire foundations of the Earth. Conquest and Mark violently fought throughout the city as Conquest reveled in the bloodshed.

Mark desperately tried and failed to fight Conquest, while the veteran Viltrumite only continued to mercilessly beat him across the Earth. Conquest continuously begged Mark for more and prevented him from surrendering. Invincible was only able to escape death with the help of Atom Eve, who Conquest also killed by impaling her with his bare hands. Eve resurrected herself, which caused a massive explosion of energy that burnt half of Conquest's body. Mark was able to unleash his rage and beat the Viltrumite by caving his head in repeatedly with his own skull. Conquest is by far the toughest enemy Invincible has ever faced and would have killed him with no effort if not for Eve.
